Day 13: 2 Nephi 10-12

Welcome to Day 13...

Today, Jacob teaches that we are truly saved by the grace of God.

"Wherefore, my beloved brethren, reconcile yourselves to the will of God, and not to the will of the devil and the flesh; and remember, after ye are reconciled unto God, that it is only in and through the GRACE of God that ye are saved.

In 2 Nephi 12 we officially enter the Isaiah chapters in the Book of Mormon. Jacob explains why:
"And now I write some of the words of Isaiah, that whoso of my people shall see these words may lift up their hearts and rejoice for all men. Now these are the words, and ye may liken them unto you and unto all men." (2 Nephi 11:8)

President Boyd K. Packer encouraged: “Do not stop reading! Move forward through those difficult-to-understand chapters …even if you understand very little of it. Move on, if all you do is skim and merely glean an impression here and there.”

However, we have many study helps to"glean impressions." (The Isaiah map video in today's blog is excellent.)

Isaiah saw our day - temples, the gathering of Israel, the millennium and the Second Coming! He entreats us to "walk in the light of the Lord; yea come, for ye have all gone astray, every one to his wicked ways."

We're following his plea to walk in the light as we open our scriptures today.

“The Atonement is an event that enables us to be reconciled to God. The word atonement, or 'at-one'ment,' means to restore or to come back. In terms of family, it means to be reunited with one another and with God and His Son, Jesus Christ. It means sadness through separation will become happiness through reuniting.” --Earl C. Tingey
